I did not understand the bit about facebook taking 100% or the tax. Otherwise, I can see how the internet makes sense through this lens. As for TikTok having people with long term “careers”, there are ways that TikTok is attractive without needing to pay creators, such as creating a voice for social change, advertising for a book ;), linking to art work/ jewelry, linking an amazon wish list. I definitely feel that attention is an important commodity.
There are times that I also can’t help but feel that some people’s eyes matter more than others. For example someone who has a lot of influencers matters more than someone with 3, or someone who has political power, or with a lot of money... And do the social media platforms keep track of who is most important for spreading a new post? Like if there’s someone who causes a video go from 1k views to 20k by sharing it with friends who share it with their friends, etc. thanks for starting a new thing hank!
Those 2nd and 3rd anchors hit me good. I often focus on making a thing that's compelling, challenging, and exciting for me. So the medium often varies and I don't really think about currency conversion.
As a young professional entering the media industry from behind the scenes, I look forward to reading your insights. DFTBA
This was an interesting take on modern culture, looking forward to more.
This is both, a set of biases you might have, and also a set of truths you've come to learn? Anchors, huh. That's a nice way of seeing it.
Bruh haven’t heard the name McLuhan since college
Good read! Looking forward to more. DFTBA
Throughly enjoyed ABFE and its depiction and prediction of modern social media systems.
I'm very interested to see you continue this critical thought process beyond a fictional context and hope for some aha moments along the way.
(P.S.: I assume you meant to type “We *tend* to see…” in the last sentence of your second paragraph.)
Love this!
