Thanks for the audio version Hank! This was a really interesting take, I've never thought about it this way and I think you're right about the story element of crowdfunding. One of the most successful Patreon campaigns I ever saw was when a member of a YouTube group had been ousted and set out to do their own thing - it would be fair to say much of the campaign's success was due to the spite that the situation with the group had incited amongst fans of that particular member.
